The 2nd Japan-China Exchange and Exhibition of
Childrens Paintings was held in August 1997 to commemorate the
25th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations
between Japan and China. As an international event in Japan-China
friendship which was supported by the Chinese Ministry of Culture
and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the exhibition was
held in grand style. The exhibition featured various cultural
activities including paintings by children in France, a country
which has a long friendship with the Konishi International Exchange
Foundation, and a concert by a chorus group of overseas Chinese
residents, and children from Japan and China. Friendships between
the children were enhanced through a reception which included
activities such as a joint sketch of the scenic beauty of Yieheyuan
Garden Kunmin Lake, playing, and dancing.
