The Institute of Bio-Active Sciences was established
in Yashiro-cho, Hyogo prefecture, Japan in 1983. The institute
conducts basic research on drug development with its main focus
on the research of bioactive substances. Adopting a new approach
to research which attaches primary importance to the body rather
than one which favors chemically synthesized substances and associated
research themes such as the regulation of biofunctions and research
on defense substances, the institute promises to pioneer new fields
in medicine.
The Konishi Commemorative Hall, located within the precincts of
the institute, is used to accommodate guests from universities
and research institutes both from Japan and abroad. It also functions
as a space for free discussion and debate.
